Client Spotlight: Bayview Garden Nurseries

Feb 24, 2026 | Client Spotlight

Bayview Garden Nurseries has been a trusted name in Southern New Jersey landscaping for more than seven decades. Founded in March of 1952 by Harry and Betty Cummings, the company began with a shared passion for plants and a desire to spend their days working outdoors while building something meaningful for their community.

The business was originally established in a Pleasantville neighborhood known as the Bayview Tract, which is where Bayview Garden Nurseries proudly received its name. As the company grew and demand increased, the need for more space became clear. In 1954, Bayview relocated to Northfield, where it continues to operate from its current location today.

After completing his studies in business at NJC, Harry Cummings applied his knowledge, work ethic, and vision to grow Bayview Garden Nurseries into a company known for quality, reliability, and personal service. Together, Harry and Betty laid a strong foundation rooted in professionalism and customer satisfaction—values that would shape the company for generations to come.

Harry and Betty retired in 1995, marking the end of an era but not the end of the Bayview story. On January 1, 1996, the second generation of the Cummings family—Bob, Bonnie, and Bruce—stepped forward to form Bayview Garden Nurseries LLC, proudly continuing the legacy their parents had built. Under their leadership, the company expanded into a full-service landscape design, build, and maintenance firm while remaining true to its family roots.

Bayview Garden Nurseries has always operated with the objective of being one of the most productive and profitable landscape companies in the Southern New Jersey market. This goal is achieved by meeting the needs of both customers and employees, fostering a strong team culture, and consistently promoting professionalism throughout the landscaping industry.

Today, the Bayview story continues with the third generation of the Cummings family. Five family members—Bobby, Jason, Kevin, Jon, and Bruce Jr.—now work at Bayview Garden Nurseries, preparing to carry the family tradition forward. Their involvement reflects a deep commitment to the values on which the company was founded and a shared responsibility for its future. “The team at Bayview has relied on the services of Capaldi Reynolds and Pelosi for decades. The Firm shares our commitment to excellence and has helped us grow our business at every stage of our development.”

The continued success of Bayview Garden Nurseries is driven by the dedication of its employees and an unwavering focus on customer satisfaction. Bayview’s mission is to promote safety, company pride, professionalism, and security for employees, customers, and the public. By providing timely, high-quality services and products, Bayview strives to exceed expectations while honoring a legacy built on hard work, integrity, and family.

Today, Bayview Garden Nurseries stands as a living legacy—rooted in family, grown through dedication, and guided by a commitment to serve Southern New Jersey for generations to come.
